New Years Eve

New Years Eve

Today we left San Felipe, heading north on Careterra 5 to Mexicali, then west on I8 towards San Diego and Legoland.

San Felipe

For Nana : This was a sign on a side street in San Felipe. While we did not eat here; SG liked the sign for her mom. \

Jacumba

Jacumba was once famous for it's hot springs. It also had an unmanned border crossing into Jacumé BC until 1991 when the 25 residences south of the border were cut off from the rest of the town and their relatives by a new border fence. Up until the construction of the fence, there was no road south connecting the Mexican portion of the town with the rest of Mexico.

Empty Tank : We made it to Jacumba before filling. SGK wanted to prove just how close she came to draining the Yukon's 25 gallon tank

Legoland

We wanted to make it to Legoland in time for the New Years celebration. We barely made it into the park before closing. Showing up just before closing was only OK because Lego had a deal going called "Our Gift To You" where if you bought tickets between Christmas and New Years they gave you a free pass for any day in 2009; so whilst SGK waited on line for the free passes (which we planned on using the very next day) I whisked the kids around and we managed to do 8 rides in all!

I'm gonna get you! : Michelangelo was plainly scared of this attraction ("The Adventurers Club") but wanted to go again, and again, and again. \ It's actually a simple maze where you look for a lego key amongst an Indiana Jones esque setting

Behind the wheel already! : I thought I had at least 12 more years before I had to face this!

Sky Coaster : This was the last ride we did as the park was closed, but we managed to get in line just beforehand. It looks very Theodore Geisel esque (Dr. Suess), and the pedals do absolutely nothing.
